What you don’t know about hot dogs could kill you. This Cancer Project commercial is based on a 2007 report from the American Institute for Cancer Research. The report concluded that hot dogs and other processed meats are a convincing cause of colorectal cancer. The risk increases by 21 percent for every 50 grams of processed meat consumed daily. Professor Peter Davies, Director of the Children’s Nutrition Research Centre

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Led by Professor Peter Davies, Director of the Childrens Nutrition Research Centre, a group of passionate researchers is dedicated to improving the health of children and young people through scientific research and education of the highest international standard in the field of nutrition.

The Centre located at the Royal Childrens Hospital is at the forefront of paediatric nutrition research in Australia, and is working to better understand obesity and the best nutritional diet to manage or improve the condition in children.

The impact of the expanding waistlines in children is being seen on the hospital front line, with doctors now frequently diagnosing children with type2 diabetes and heart disease conditions previously only found in adults.

Researchers are also looking at the role nutrition plays in the treatment and management of sick children.

Good nutrition is a key element in growth, development and well-being in all children. This is especially so in children with chronic and acute disease, said Professor Davies.

Were very fortunate that we are able to employ a diverse range of internationally and nationally acclaimed experts including dietitians, gasteroenterologists and nutritionists so that we can work with doctors at the bedside to give kids every opportunity to regain good health.

Name of 70’s (maybe PBS?) kid’s show? The guy wore this spandex suit with a design of muscles on the front.

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

The guy had dark curly hair and wore a one-piece, long-sleeved, black, spandex suit. His costume had the human musculature structure silkscreened on the front. I think he taught kids about health or nutrition. This could have been an actual show or a sketch within a kid’s show. I think it was on PBS. If anyone can post any info or leads, that would be GREAT!

Slim GoodBody was the show. It was one of my favorites and came on between the Electric Company and 3-2-1 Contact.
