Protect Our Kids

Take a trip 'round the internet.

What you don’t know about hot dogs could kill you. This Cancer Project commercial is based on a 2007 report from the American Institute for Cancer Research. The report concluded that hot dogs and other processed meats are a convincing cause of colorectal cancer. The risk increases by 21 percent for every 50 grams of processed meat consumed daily. A 50-gram serving is approximately the size of a typical hot dog. Learn more at www.CancerProject.org.

I happen to be a vegetarian but I was still shocked to see what goes into hot dogs. I’m thinking, If a group of people felt strongly enough about the evidence to put out this ad and was willing to take the heat for it, you gotta believe where there’s smoke, there’s fire, right?

It’s about time we get ads on TV that tell it like it is when it comes to the strong links between diet and the diseases that are killing most Americans. PCRM deserves a lot of credit for being on the forefront of nutritional action and education for so long.

How interesting this ad would come out right now. I had to buy hotdogs to have protine in the house this week. Its the economy of not buiding those oil refineries and driving up the gas prices. Like many Americans I cant afford to buy healthy food when the gas is this high. The topper. A life time of bologna and hotdogs, the sustanance of the poor in this country,my father died from Liver Cancer in 2003 that started as Colon cancer. The doctor said it was processed meat that killed his liver.Cond

Eerie, but theoretically true. Basically, they’re trying to get the crap disguised as healthy out of public schools. I remember in my youth how many little school lunch ads proclaimed the healthiness of school luncheons, but I figured that given the lack of apparent hygiene on the lunch ladies’ persons, I felt an unshakable doubt regarding these claims.

This PSA makes an excellent point. Processed meats are a contributor to increased risk factors for a number of diseases. Removing that factor early may very likely increase chances of a longer and healthier life.
